Program of Study: Political Science

Hey everyone! My name is Olivia Vieira (she/her), and currently, I am in my third year of Political Science. Even though I have only been part of the McLaughlin Peer Mentor Network since 2020 I am honoured to take on being a leader this year and hopefully be able to participate in the marketing team again. Outside of my studies, a lot of my time is dedicated to watercolour painting, along with many other forms of mediums. I also love working out which does not always mix well with my foodie side. The best advice I could give you is, that being an out-of-province student myself, to put yourself out there and step out of your comfort zone to meet new people. Even if you have friends at your side during this exciting and milestone point in your life, it does not hurt to meet people who are perhaps in your residence, program, college, or club, to build your network. You can also utilize your Peer Mentor for connections, or suggestions on how to get connected with others, plus they are a great resource for helping to ease the first-year jitters by answering questions you may have. I wish you all a lovely and memorable first year at York University!
