Canadian Political Thought
This course surveys the evolution of Canadian political thought in general as well as the broader intellectual contributions made by Canadian thinkers to debates related to justice, democracy, federalism, and cultural tolerance. Possible topics to be covered include the dialectic between "tory" and "republican" intellectual sources in Canada, the development of dominant ideologies in Canada, regional variations in thought, and the more recent debates regarding aboriginal self-government and cultural diversity and inclusion.
