Introduction to Indigenous Politics
This course surveys key aspects of Indigenous politics by centering Indigenous perspectives. Focusing on settler-colonial Canada in comparative and global vantage point, a variety of themes will be covered, such as: capitalism; colonialism; nationalism; dispossession; genocide; systemic racism; patriarchy; sovereignty; global governance; treaties; federalism; jurisprudence; land claims and territorial reclamations; cities; institutional and policy realignments; Indigenous resurgence; and decolonization.
