Speech & Language Sciences

This new program provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the field of speech and language sciences and disorders. This program also functions as a pre-professional preparatory program for students who intend to pursue graduate work in speech-language pathology or audiology. Our program is just the third of its kind offered in Canada.

Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

As the world becomes increasingly internationalized, there is a growing demand for qualified ESL/EFL teachers. In response to this demand for accredited English language teachers, the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics offers a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

Spanish

Develop a strong command of the Spanish language as you explore the language, literature, culture, and ethnic diversity of Spain and the Spanish-American world.

Portuguese & Luso Brazilian Studies

This program focuses on aspects of art, musical and literary expressions, history, social and political landscapes through a wealth of courses, including experiential education opportunities.

Italian Studies

Study Italian languages, literature and linguistics and enhance your understanding of Italy’s place in the global context and the multi-faceted and dynamic Italian culture.

Japanese Studies Minor

Learn the Japanese language and appreciate Japanese culture in our program offering course selection breadth and academic depth.

German Studies

Explore the language, culture and society of the German-speaking world. You will have the opportunity to study abroad with Canada’s best range of exchange programs.

French Studies

The French Studies program focuses on the study of language, linguistics and literature while exploring francophone culture around the world. We keep our classes small to give you plenty of opportunity to speak French and interact with professors and classmates.
