Welcome to Interrogating Canadian Identities (ICI)

Welcome!

The Interrogating Canadian Identities (ICI) is looking for Canadians and people living in Canada to talk about Canadian identities.

As a part of this research, we are looking for people, who would like to talk about what it means to be Canadian, live in Canada and/or Canadian identities in general. We will be having public forums and focus groups in locations across Canada, but many of the discussions will be online over Zoom.

As we settle on dates and places we will list in-person or online times and locations on this site and upcoming groups or events here:

  • To participate in a group, you will need to complete an informed consent available on this site, here.
  • You can download the form to fill it in advance or at the event.
  • Your ideas and opinions are important to us and we appreciate your participation.

For any further information about this project, please see the contact information on the contact page or write to Dr. Anne MacLennan, Director at amaclenn@yorku.ca

“I love this country…I speak English and Mandarin et un petit peu français. I grew up on Ketchup chips, roti, and Jamaican beef patties…and by the way, it is pronounced bubble tea okay not boba! Bubble tea God damn it!… My name is Simu Liu, and I am Canadian.”
