Qualitative Research Team

The Qualitative Research Team will complete individual interviews and focus groups across each province and territory to generate insight into pathways to poverty and pathways out of poverty for 2SLGBTQ+ people. The interview and focus group findings will build on findings from the large-scale national survey on 2SLGBTQ+ poverty.

Currently, the team is developing the interview guides for the individual interviews and focus groups, which includes consultation with the project’s Community Advisory Board and community partners.

Our Goals Are To

1

Complete 100 individual interviews with diverse 2SLGBTQ+ people with lived experience of poverty. Participants will represent diverse 2SLGBTQ+ lived experiences and knowledges of poverty based on race, Indigeneity, gender, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, citizenship, houselessness, and urban and rural living among other social identities and locations.

2

Of the 100 individual interviews, approximately 15 interviews will be completed with 2SLGBTQ+ people who have experienced pathways out of poverty.

3

Complete 13 focus groups for the purpose of sharing preliminary findings from the individual interviews, focus groups, and national survey for participant feedback and input.
