Professor Peter Matthews is Professor of Social Policy and LGBTQ+ Studies, in the Faculty of Social Science, University of Stirling (UK). His research focuses on the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in their interactions with the state, particularly social security benefits and housing systems. He is particularly interested in queery-ing the heteronormative basis of welfare regimes. As well as being an international collaborator on this project, Professor Matthews is also currently leading the major research project LGBT+ Welfare and Assets in Great Britain, funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
