Rae Vanille

Rae Vanille is (they/them) is a non-binary Métis neurodivergent activist and researcher from Anishinabewaki Treaty 9 Territory (Hearst, Ontario). Rae has a Master’s in linguistics and has worked as an educator and mentor for students and newcomers, as well as a researcher for various sociolinguistic projects. Throughout their career, Rae has led several research projects focused on racialized and gender-based violence, including their thesis which evaluated discriminatory methods in gender research in the field of linguistic anthropology. They also have extensive experience working in non-profit and community settings, including working as a wildlife rehabilitator, and serving as a language revitalization fieldworker for the Oneida-of-the-Thames community.
