DEM Adjunct Professor Glenn McGillivray wrote an opinion piece for the Globe and Mail on Nov. 16, discussing the cause and impact of the storms in British Columbia, particularly the province’s smaller communities, over the last few weeks.
“The problem is that small communities don’t have resources that larger ones have. They don’t have an adequate first response, nor do they have the resources to identify vulnerabilities and properly address them before disaster strikes…” he said, in the article.
