Prof. Leblanc discusses CTA’s independence

Professor Richard Leblanc was recently featured in multiple publications in a Canadian Press article, discussing how communications between the federal government and the Canadian Transport Agency (CTA) bring into question the regulator’s independence.

The Castanet article is titled, “Is the CTA independent?: Emails raise questions about Canadian transportation regulator's independence”. Travelweek published it as “Emails between CTA and the federal govt. back in the spotlight”, and BNN Bloomberg called it “Emails raise questions about Canadian transportation regulator's independence”.

“The section could not be more clear that there is to be no communication with individuals who are outside of the agency…You don’t want to create the perception in the mind of the public that there’s undue influence,” he said, in the article.
