Alain teaches emergency management communication. Communication often fails in emergency management so he aims to give students a fighting chance. He uses case studies a lot to teach from other's successes and failures. He has an interactive style to encourage students to practice effective communication in the classroom.

Alain has fifteen years of teaching experience at the university and college level as well as about thirty years of adult education training. He has been a professional emergency manager for over thirty years, working mostly in Gatineau and in Brampton.
