Kaz uses lectures to expose students to new concepts and methods. Bi-weekly assignments test the students’ ability to solve specific problems using materials introduced in lectures. Through group projects, students develop collaborative skills in addressing real issues using real data. Kaz retired from Environment Canada as a climate research scientist, with research focus on the global carbon cycle and climate change dynamics. He developed and used climate system models, as well as employed various data analysis techniques to understand the spatio-temporal patterns of climate change and their impact on human systems.
