His legal experience includes articling in the area of Civil Litigation at Lawson McGrenere, working in Compliance at Royal Trust, and as Contracts Administrator at the Canadian Film Centre, Short Dramatic Film Program. He worked for many years as for the Attorney General (Ontario) as a Provincial Prosecutor in Toronto, prosecuting and conducting appeals of numerous regulatory statutes. While at the Provincial Prosecutor’s office, he was Acting Manager for a period of time, supervising prosecutors and support staff.
He has been a Sessional Lecturer in Employment Law in York University’s School of Human Resources Management, LAPS, for over ten years. Much to some people’s surprise, he has thrice been an Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award Nominee, York University, School of HRM. In each case, sanity was restored and someone else won.
He has been a Sessional Lecturer at Seneca Polytechnic for ten years, teaching various courses in the following Schools: School of Media, Television Broadcast/Production (various courses relating to screenwriting, production planning and overseeing student Capstone films); School of English and Liberal Studies (COM101, mandatory first semester communications course) School of Management & Entrepreneurship (Business Ethics and Values); School of Legal, Public & Office Administration (various courses in the Paralegal and Law Clerk program). He has also been an occasional Sessional Lecturer at George Brown College (Continuing Education) (Business Law)
He is the author of six graphic novels and two leveled readers for the education market. He has written books for publishers such as Oxford University Press, Scholastic, Pearson, and Rubicon. A number of these books have won awards and have been translated into French. They have been published throughout North America, the U.K., and Australia. His most recent graphic novel, Feeling Weird, deals with youth mental health and was presented at the Reading for The Love of It Literacy Conference. He is the recipient of awards, funding and recognition for his writing, these include: bravoFACT funding for a short comedy film; being selected as a Finalist in the National Screen Institute Totally TV program; and COGECO development funding for a comedy web-series. His scripts regularly place in internationally recognized screenwriting contests. None of his comedy scripts are inspired by any of his HRM students’ exam answers – yet.
Lastly, it is a source of continuing disappointment that he has not received a chili pepper for ‘hotness’ on the Rate My Professor website – yet.
