Michael McGarry

Michael has been teaching at the York University School of Human Resource Management for almost a decade, and also teaches for the Human Resources and Leadership and Business Studies programs at Nipissing University, Seneca College, Conestoga College and Humber College. He has taught all of the core courses in the human resources curriculum and almost all of the electives. Students at York University have nominated Michael for six teaching awards.

In addition to his academic experience, Michael worked for over 15 years as a human resources executive in the technology, automotive, supply chain management, and health and beauty industries. Along the way, he trained in alternative dispute resolution, crisis counselling, equity and diversity, and obtained the Certified Human Resources Professional and Certified Personnel Consultant designations.

Michael pursued his graduate studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and the Faculty of Education at the University of Toronto, where he received his Ph.D.

Michael’s research has been published in North America and Europe.
