Second-Generation Diaspora and Identity
Builds on AP/COMN 4732 3.00 Theories of Diaspora and Transnational Media, providing a survey of the key issues regarding diaspora and second-generation identity. Particular attention will be given to the role of transnational media in the construction of second-generation identities from different theoretical and methodological approaches. Key concepts such as hybridity, symbolic boundaries, ‘browning’and gender are explored through a diasporic lens.
