Organized by the School of Social Work at York University, the Subversive Action: (Re)visioning Social Justice ‘Work’ in Social Work Research Symposium reflects Social Work relationship with the various stakeholders probing questions about who/what the profession serves, its ambiguous positioning between the care and control of populations, and whether extra-juridical means could open up pathways to bring back the ‘Work’ of social justice in Social Work. Our aim is to invite dialogues about subversive possibilities and propositions in the face of diminishing support for advocacy and action orientation.
