4th year Law and Society w/ Professional Certificate in Public Administration and Law

My name is Grizzel Calida, and I am a fourth-year Law and Society student, also pursuing a Professional Certificate in Public Administration and Law (CPAL). I was introduced to CPAL and the School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA) by an academic advisor when I was a first-year student at York. I decided to pursue a CPAL to broaden my scope of study and familiarize myself with something that was foreign to me. The lessons I’ve learned in this certificate program have definitely been useful and made my perspective as a Law and Society student more informed.

Since becoming a member of the SPPA, I have been lucky to find the Public Policy and Administration Student Association (PPASA) where I first became a Junior Ambassador and am now the Director of Marketing and Social Media for the 2022-2023 academic year. Being a member of the PPASA and the SPPA has been extremely rewarding. Not only have I gained teammates that I can now call friends, but the skills gained from networking events and being active in the SPPA community are so helpful.  It’s been an honour meeting the SPPA professors and faculty, alumni, students, and PPASA members who are some of the most creative, incredible, bright people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Everyone welcomes you and guides you with open arms, that the school feels like a second family. There is so much more left to explore and learn, and I cannot wait to pass on this wonderful experience and introduce the SPPA community to incoming students!
