Lola Obomighie
Director, People and Culture Cota
Lola started her HR career in South West England in 2007. Since then, she gained progressive experience in private and public sector England, and more recently in Ontario. Lola is most passionate about People, HR Innovation, HR Project Management, Diversity and Inclusion, HR Analytics and Culture. She is a firm believer that the foundation of an engaged and empowered workforce is inherent to the success and competitive advantage of any organisation. Having worked in Healthcare and with vulnerable adults and children; Lola understands the importance of the role that HR plays in ensuring the best outcomes for clients. She is therefore ardent that HR policies, procedures and practices contribute to creating positive outcomes for Cota clients.
After completing a dual honours Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Statistics; Lola achieved a Master of Science degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Manchester, England. In addition to other postgraduate qualifications, Lola also maintains a number of professional memberships including the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation with the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) of Ontario. Lola relishes volunteer work particularly in the education sector. She served as a governor in a higher education college in England until her relocation to Canada. More recently, Lola was appointed as a Governance Committee Board member in one of Canada’s oldest and most respected independent schools.
Lola is proud to be a recent addition to Cota. Cota is an accredited, not-for-profit, community-based organization that has been supporting adults with mental health and cognitive challenges to live well within their communities for over 45 years. Cota provides person-centred support to help individuals find inspiration and hope in themselves, so they are better able to pursue meaningful change in their lives. Cota works collaboratively with funders, partners and other stakeholders, across the provincial health and social service systems, to inspire positive change in the way services are delivered to individuals living with mental health and cognitive challenges.
