Dr. Quentin Chiotti is the Technical Director for Climate Risk and Resilience at Matrix Solutions, a Montrose Environmental Company. With over 30 years of experience in the field of environmental risk and a long track record of collaborative research, engagement, and action, Dr. Chiotti is considered as a thought leader and subject matter expert on climate risk and resiliency. His climate change impacts and vulnerability expertise in the fields of agriculture, energy, public health, watershed management, transportation/transit, and public infrastructure has been sought out by many as he is able to translate difficult science and policy issues into practical actions with measurable outcomes.

Prior to joining Matrix in 2021, Dr. Chiotti was responsible for developing and leading the climate resiliency program at Metrolinx. Before joining Metrolinx, he established himself as one of Canada’s leading climate adaptation and air quality professionals in his capacity as senior scientist with Pollution Probe. In this capacity he was a member of Ontario’s first Expert Panel on Climate Adaptation (2007-2009), and a member of multistakeholder working groups that developed the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) and the Air Quality Management System (AQMS) that has transformed air quality management in Canada.

As a scientific authority, Dr. Chiotti has led workshops and research on energy and health, engaging government, communities, and stakeholders. He was also a contributor to Canada’s first national assessment on climate change impacts and adaptation and was co-lead author of the “Ontario” chapter in From Impacts to Adaptation: Canada in a Changing Climate 2007 and was a contributing author to Human Health in a Changing Climate: A Canadian Assessment of Vulnerabilities and Adaptative Capacity, published by Health Canada in 2008. Quentin is a graduate of York University (BA (Hons) Geography and Urban Studies, 1981), Queen’s University (MA, Historical Geography, 1984) and Western University (Ph. D., Geography, 1992).
