Robert Trewartha
Director of Strategic Communications and Initiatives, City of Mississauga
Robert Trewartha currently serves as the Director of Strategic Communications and Initiatives for the City of Mississauga. He leads the City’s communications portfolio which includes marketing, creative services, research and community engagement. As the Director of Strategic Initiatives, Robert oversees the development and advancement of the City’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion program, government relations, and the City’s Strategic Plan, which includes the revitalization of the waterfront and Smart City program.
Prior to his role as Director, Robert served for six years as the Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Mississauga and Manager of Intergovernmental Affairs. Prior to this, Robert was a private sector government relations and communications consultant.
Robert holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Queen’s University, a Master’s Certificate in Municipal Leadership from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and was a member of the 2019/2020 class of the Bloomberg-Harvard City Leadership Initiative. He lives in Mississauga with his wife and their three wonderful children.
