Armena Malekzadeh
2nd year
Hello, my name is Armena Malekzadeh. I am currently a second-year student at York University in the Bachelor of Public Administration program, specializing in Law, Justice, and Public Policy. Throughout my studies, I’ve developed a strong interest in the intersection of law, society, and ethics, and have immensely enjoyed courses like AP-HUMA 1825 (Law and Morality in Literature and Culture), AP-PPAS 4070 (Sociology of Law), and AP-PPAS 2195 (Professional Skills and Communication).
PPAS 4070 was a very engaging class that emphasized the importance of participation, which made it an enriching experience. The professor was not only knowledgeable but also always open to helping students, fostering a supportive learning environment. The course itself focused on the timeline of law, its development over time, and the sociology of law, exploring how societal factors shape legal systems. It was a deeply meaningful class that encouraged critical thinking and reflection, making it one of the most fruitful and impactful courses I’ve taken. PPAS 2195 helped me develop practical skills for real-life scenarios, preparing me to navigate future challenges in both professional and educational settings. The professors and TAs were amazing—they took the time to provide individualized support and truly cared about our success. Their dedication to the course was evident in everything, from their engaging teaching style to the carefully crafted content. This approach made me feel involved and confident in my ability to interact with the material, and it made learning both impactful and enjoyable.
One of the highlights of my experience has been my involvement with the School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA). From the moment I attended the orientation in my first year, I felt immediately welcomed into the community. The supportive environment at SPPA has allowed me to meet so many amazing people, fostering friendships and connections that have shaped my educational journey. It has also played a significant role in helping me make informed decisions about my education and career, guiding me towards opportunities I might not have otherwise considered. I am excited to continue building on this foundation as I move forward in my studies and professional development.
