Diana Chukarska

4th year Philosophy major completing the Professional Certificate in Public Administration and Law.

My name is Diana Chukarska. I am a Philosophy major in my fourth year at York University and planning to graduate with the certificate in Public Administration and Law.

I found out about the School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA) when looking through the various certificate programs that York offers alongside undergraduate degrees. Upon joining the Public Administration and Law certificate program in my third year, I decided I wanted to get more involved and joined the Public Policy and Administration Student Association (PPASA). I was a Junior Ambassador for the PPASA last year and ran for an executive position at the end of it, serving now as the Director of Professional Communications for the PPASA. Outside of school, I am a legal assistant for a family law practice in Downtown Toronto and I do a lot of reading in my spare time.

My favourite course I have taken so far has to be Political Philosophy which I took in my third year, or AP/PPAS 4130 6.0 Politics, Law and the Courts, which I am currently enrolled in. The area of legal and political philosophy has always been an interest of mine since I took philosophy at the secondary school level. Learning about public administration and public policy has furthered my understanding about many of the theoretical and historical concepts I have learned through my philosophy degree, and has taught me so much about politics and government.
