Marie Joelle Lahoud

2nd year

My name is Marie Joelle Lahoud, and I am currently in my second year of the Law and Society program with a minor in French Studies. I am also completing a certificate in Public Policy to further enhance my understanding of governance, legal frameworks, and social equity.

I joined the Public Policy and Administration Student Association (PPASA) this year as a Junior ambassador to connect with like-minded peers and immerse myself in opportunities to learn about public service. Although my journey with PPASA is just beginning, I am excited about the chance to participate in networking events and career panels, which will allow me to gain insights from professionals in the field. Through this experience, I hope to develop valuable skills, such as policy analysis and project management, while deepening my understanding of how policies impact communities and drive societal progress.

While I haven’t yet taken Public Policy and Administration courses, I am signed up for Communities and the Public, which I’m eager to explore. This course will allow me to critically examine how public policy interacts with diverse community needs, providing a foundation for my aspirations in public service.

Beyond academics, I value the sense of belonging that comes with joining a vibrant and motivated community like the PPASA. These spaces provide opportunities for professional growth and the chance to build lifelong connections with peers and mentors who share a vision for positive societal impact. I am particularly inspired by the interdisciplinary nature of public policy, which allows me to combine my interests in law, society, and governance to develop innovative solutions to complex issues.

Through the PPASA, I hope to gain the knowledge, experiences, and networks needed to make a meaningful contribution to public service. I aspire to work at the intersection of law and policy, advocating for underrepresented communities and shaping initiatives that create lasting change. Being part of this community gives me the confidence and support to pursue these goals. I am excited to continue learning, growing, and contributing to a better future for all.
