4th year Year Bachelor of Public Administration, Specializing in Policy Analysis

My name is Milena Basciano and I'm a fourth-year student majoring in Public Administration with a certificate in French studies. After recognizing my passion in policy in my third year, I opted to pursue the Policy Analysis stream in the program. As I near graduation and the start of my career, I reflect on the last four years and eagerly anticipate what lies ahead.

I had the chance to apply all I had learned into practice during my final year. The PPAS 4995 Practicum course serves as the ideal bridge for experiential learning between the foundational courses and my work in the public sector. I work at the Ministry of the Solicitor General's Program Development Unit where I provide research, conduct analyses, and offer consultation to facilitate the development, management, and implementation of rehabilitation programs. It has been fascinating to observe first-hand how these programs are designed and executed, and I am fortunate to be able to make such significant contributions.

The last four years have flown by. At my first SPPA event, I recall being introduced to the Public Policy and Administration Student Association. Fast forward to now, being the President of such a remarkable team made up of extraordinary people is one of the opportunities I value most. Our team puts on invaluable events for the students in our community and it's very rewarding to hear such encouraging feedback. My sole piece of advice for students is to get involved. I will always treasure the relationships that I have established with the students, alumni, and faculty in our community. It is an honor to be a part of such a wonderful family, and I look forward to doing so forever.
