Law & Society major with a minor in Public Administration and Student Ambassador for the Public Policy and Administration Student Association (PPASA)

My name is Sarah Afriyie, and I am currently in my third year completing a minor in Public Administration in addition to my major in Law and Society. My current position in the Public Policy and Administration Student Association (PPASA) is a Student Ambassador position, which has opened many opportunities for me socially, and professionally. Throughout my education, I always demonstrated interest in the areas of legal studies, politics, and policy. Pursuing studies in the School of Public Policy and Administration has been perfect as it has offered an interdisciplinary approach to topics I was passionate about. Overall, I would recommend that students get involved in this area of study as the program director, faculty, and alumni are very present, and are always willing to mold and shape each student into being the best version of themselves that they can be. This program offers many events to facilitate student and professional networking, as well as opportunities to get involved with the School of Public Policy and Administration as a whole.

The one piece of advice I have for students in the program is to make the best of your degree. There are so many events and people at your disposal, so use them to your advantage! Getting involved in the student association not only allows you to build great connections with professors and alumni, but it helps to shape you as a person. When you look back at your time in school at York University, make sure that you can say with confidence, you were the best person that you could be. This is the very first, and most crucial step in your career. – Sarah Afriyie
