An award-winning play presented by Vanier College Productions will stage 11 performances at the Fred Thury Studio until Dec. 4.
Clybourne Park, winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play, was written by Bruce Norris as a spin-off to A Raisin in the Sun and explodes in two outrageous acts set 50 years apart.
Act 1 takes place in 1959, as white community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family; Act 2 is set in the same house in the present day as the now predominantly African-American neighbourhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification.
The production is directed by Beau Dixon, with assistant director and stage manager by Genevieve Lamb. It runs Nov. 25 to Dec. 4, Wednesday to Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm at 258 Vanier College.
Ticket prices are: general admission $25, students (with student ID) $15, and Wednesday/Thursday shows for students (with student ID) $12.
Tickets can be purchased online at clybourneparkvcp.bpt.me until two hours before show time. Tickets are also available at the door (cash only), subject to availability, beginning one hour prior to the start of the performance.
