VCP offers a series of Skill Building Workshops to provide students with academic, career and arts related skills. The workshops run annually between October-March and where possible, are recorded so that the students who register for each workshop can watch the recordings later. Each workshop runs approximately 45-60 minutes.
The dates/times for the workshops vary to accommodate for differing student schedules, generally starting at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. on a weekday.
Communications Skills
This workshop will cover important communication skills needed to be successful in school, in the workplace, and in life! The session will also highlight some common pitfalls, and how to avoid these mistakes.
Interview / Auditioning Skills
This workshop will include a combination of facilitated discussion, exercises, and sharing of resources that apply for onstage, backstage, interviewing skills and other performance related pursuits.
Presentation Skills
Presenting skills are an integral part of relaying information in a compelling way to your audience. This may include presenting an idea or sharing research in a workplace, pitching a creative endeavour to collaborators, or clearly sharing your ideas for a class assignment.
Project Management
This workshop is designed to teach you some of the basics of project management and how these basics can be used in everyday real-world experiences, from planning a theatre production to starting your own business.
