A collaboration between Vanier College Productions (VCP) and the Classical Studies Department in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS), join us to witness a tragic tale of fidelity, equity and love for family.

Antigone
By Sophocles
Translated by George Theodoridis

Following the events of Oedipus Rex, Sophocles tells the tale of Antigone, a daughter fighting to honour her brother, Polynices, who tragically lost his life fighting for the crown of Thebes. With her uncle, the King, making it law to leave Polynices unburied, will Antigone be able to defy the King to venerate her brother?

Ajax

BIPOC Artist Hub

BIPOC Artist Hub

February 1-3, 2024

Welcome to VCP’s BIPOC Artist HUB Showcase! Our BIPOC Artist HUB was formed during our 2021-2022 season with the hope of creating a safe space open to all BIPOC artists (theatre, dance, music, visual art, film, design, media, etc.) at York. Each week the hub meets for group discussions, games, guest lecturers and the end of the season showcase.

For this season’s showcase, students from the BIPOC Artist Hub worked towards bringing their art to life, this year focusing on the theme of world building and alternate worlds. With exhibits that ranged from visual art, board games, live performances, AI technology and more. We hope to transport you to other worlds with our personal stories, reflections and ideations.

Bring It On

Bring It On

March 1 – 10, 2024

Bitingly relevant, sprinkled with sass, and inspired by the hit film, Bring It On The Musical takes audiences on a high-flying journey that is filled with the complexities of friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness.

Campbell is cheer-royalty at Truman High School and her senior year should prove the most cheertastic — she’s been named captain of the squad! But an unexpected redistricting has forced her to spend her final year of high school at the neighboring Jackson High School. Despite having the deck stacked against her, Campbell befriends the school’s dance crew. Together with their headstrong and hardworking leader, Danielle, they form a powerhouse squad for the ultimate competition — the National Championships.
