I am sure that those who were lucky enough to have Crystal as their supervisor can agree that she is one of the best managers they have worked with. She’s a selfless leader who goes the extra mile for those around her and prioritizes our wellbeing. Through her compassion and nurturing spirit, Crystal is changing the traditional leadership style to one that’s centred on being a mentor, guide and confidant. When working with students, we are asked to focus on their strengths and how we can use those to their benefit. Crystal uses that same approach with her team and continuously reminds us of our strengths, skills and how appreciative she is of the work that we do. This, in turn, boosts our confidence as professionals. Even though I have only worked at York University for five months, I feel like it has been years thanks to Crystal and my colleagues. Reliable. Honest. Trustworthy. To me, Crystal Grant embodies these words. And this is what I admire most about Crystal — she’s the epitome of a leader and is a genuinely caring person. Thank you, Crystal, for making your colleagues feel heard and valued!
