The Writing Department is excited to welcome two new faculty members who have joined us this July!
Introducing Dr. Matthew Bucemi
Dr. Bucemi has a PhD in English from Cornell University, and he is an award-winning editor, writer, and instructor. He was the founding Managing Editor at Sutherland House Books, and has held leadership roles at publishing houses, production studios, creative agencies, and newspapers.
Dr. Bucemi has also taught a wide range of university courses about everything from philosophy, cultural studies, and literary history to kung fu movies and video game theory.
He will be leading up the Professional Writing Program's book publishing stream. He has big plans for engaging students in the publishing process alongside industry experts from the Toronto publishing world. Get ready!
Introducing Dr. Christopher Morris
Dr. Morris has an MFA in Creative Writing and his PhD in English from The Ohio State University. He is interested in rhetoric, poetry, and technical and professional communication. Currently, he brings these interests together in explorations of the rhetoric of housing and economic development. He is looking forward to walking the streets of Toronto's neighbourhoods.
Dr. Morris’s industry experience includes work as a risk management and technical writing professional in banking and insurance. He will be leading Professional Writing students in engaging rhetoric and technical writing courses.
His poems have appeared in Northwest Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, and Transition Magazine.
