No matter what career you choose, you will have to write.

In WRIT 1003, you’ll learn to write professionally. Not sure what tone to use when you’re pitching an idea? Not sure how to reach your audience? This course teaches you to read contexts, think critically and reflectively, and write appropriately in response to audiences and situations. We also explore texts, images, and multimedia.

Whether you want to learn to write academic papers or non-fiction articles, this is the course for you.

Through engaging assignments, you’ll learn to…

  • Critically read, assess, and question texts
  • Analyze texts for genre, language, structure, conventions, and idea
  • Use a range of sources to inform your critical thinking
  • Produce work appropriate for specific audiences, genres, and media
  • Substantially revise and edit your work (and others!)
  • Perform oral presentations with confidence and flair
  • Use effective processes for composition in professional writing fields
