Undergraduate Students Can Submit their Writing to Inventio!
Want to get your writing published? The Professional Writing Student Association’s (PWSA) online literary magazine Inventio is calling for creative pieces for their Spring issue 2.1!
Undergraduate students across all Ontario universities can send in a fiction, non-fiction or a poetry piece before March 17, 2023. Check out the simple submission details available on the Inventio Submission Guidelines page.
Led by this year’s Editor-in-Chief Lisa Grieve, Inventio brings together a community of talented student writers and editors to arrange each digital release.
“Inventio is a great place for students looking to get their writing out in the world,” said Grieve.
Likewise, if your writing is selected to be part of the next upcoming issue, you get to work alongside an editor to make any changes to your submission before it gets released. Once the publication is out, your writing will be promoted on social media.
“Our editing team works collaboratively with writers offering concrete and constructive feedback to help pieces become the best they can be,” noted Grieve.
“We not only edit and publish pieces, we also promote the writers and their work. Choosing to publish with Inventio is a unique way for students to complement their portfolio and help their CV stand out!”
In addition, the writer-editor collaboration ensures that the writers are supported in the publication process. That was the conclusion of Nicholas Mohammed who was published in Inventio’s Fall 2022 1.2 release.
“The Inventio staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient,” said Mohammed. “I am appreciative of the care they took. They made me feel heard and comfortable throughout the entire editing process. Writing can make us feel vulnerable or overwhelmed and the Inventio staff was more than accommodating.”
If you want to consider sending in an old creative assignment, you’re more than welcome to do so as long as it’s original and unpublished work. This is what Krista Gosselin did when she sent her fiction story for the latest issue.
“I wrote this short story about cyborgs for a class in the summer, and I was very proud of the work I put into it,” said Gosselin.
“When Inventio presented me with the privilege to publish with them,” she continued, “I believed it was the perfect platform to showcase my writing. It was the best experience I could have asked for, and I feel so fortunate to have shared my first work of fiction with them!”
So send your papers in! Inventio is a fantastic undergraduate student resource that can give you the opportunity to build your writing portfolio!
If you’re interested in sending your writing, please do so before March 17. The formal release for the Spring Issue 2.1 is on April 25, 2023!
