Workshops

In addition to individual writing instruction, the Writing Department offers a number of workshops on specific aspects of writing. In Fall 2024, the Writing Centre is offering online, synchronous writing workshops on Zoom. Simply browse through our calendar and select the event you wish to attend for more details. All Writing Centre workshops are free to attend.

Personal Statements & Grants Writing Club

Enhance your chances of success with the guidance of a seasoned writing instructor and valuable feedback from your peers.

Crafting a standout personal statement is challenging. You must capture the attention of the admissions committee within a limited word count by aligning your personal, professional, and academic experiences with what the program seeks in candidates.

Achieving this requires multiple drafts and feedback from multiple readers.

Crafting a concise, cogent, and exciting description of your research project for non-specialists is a challenge! Your project needs to appear well-informed, judicious, and eminently do-able.

Achieving this requires multiple drafts and feedback from multiple readers.

There’s no need to register—just drop in when you can. We recommend attending weekly sessions until your application is polished and ready for submission.
