Rate of Pay: $17.75 - $19.50
Hours: Fall/Winter Up to 15hrs/week Summer Up to 35hrs/week

Job Purpose:
The Academic Peer Support Assistant Lead is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of peer development programs designed to support academic performance and student engagement. This role will also provide support to Academic Peer Support Assistants.
Job Duties:
Under the direction of a permanent staff member, the Academic Peer Support Assistant may be responsible for some or all the following tasks:
- Provide peer support and academic assistance to new and continuing students.
- Lead study sessions, learning activities, and academic discussions.
- Prepare peer tutoring materials and provide support to individuals or small groups.
- Collaborate with students to create an individualized study plan and track progress.
- Deliver presentations on a variety of topics including enrollment, advising resources and academic support programs.
- Assist with planning and implementing academic workshops, seminars and student engagement activities.
- Engage in promotional activities to raise program awareness and encourage student participation.
- Develop website and social media content to creatively collaborate with students to share ideas, provide information and promote events.
- Acts as an ambassador and role model by helping students navigate York University processes and procedures.
- Assist with collecting and documenting program data, evaluations and outcomes.
- Attend and participate in all training sessions and program meetings.
- Monitor study space and report any facilities issues to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist with administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
- Respond to student enquires in person, by email and over the phone.
- Other duties as assigned.
Lead Duties:
- Motivate and act as a team lead to Academic Peer Support Assistants.
- Participate in student recruitment activities.
- Develop learning activities, materials and training program to support the development of Academic Peer Support Assistants.
- Coordinate program operations by providing logistical and communications support.
