New Student Advising

As a new student, you must book and attend an enrolment advising appointment prior to gaining access to enrolling into courses. This appointment will help to chart your course and understand your degree requirements.

  1. Log in to MyFile
  1. Accept your offer (if you have not done so already).
  1. Follow instructions to "Book/Manage My Enrolment Appointment". Enrollment Appointments will be held virtually.
  1. Email advise.markham@yorku.ca if you have trouble booking an enrolment appointment.

Note for Transfer Students: Booking an enrolment appointment is necessary for the transfer credit assessment process.

💳 Pay the Registration Deposit, which confirms your registration at York University and unlocks services you will need to prepare for the start of classes and continue through your courses.

*Please ensure you have paid the registration fee by the deadline linked to the date you begin enrolling into courses. Non-registration will result in de-enrolment from your courses.

📄 Submit syllabi/detailed course outlines if required for transfer credit assessment (for Transfer Students).

🔍 Explore First Year Resources! You will discover helpful information and learn about upcoming Markham Campus student events.

🌐 Get involved in Campus Life. Check out clubs and programs that get you involved and connected at Markham Campus and the rest of the University.

❓ In case you still have questions about enrolment, please email advise.markham@yorku.ca

Prior to attending your appointment, we recommend the following pre-appointment “to-dos”:

1. Create Your Passport York Account Today. Your Passport York (PPY) Account is essential for enrolling into courses. You will also be prompted to set-up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

2. Register for Academic Accommodations, if/as applicable. If you had accommodations at your previous institution or require accommodations now, register with Student Accessibility Services today for your accommodations at York University. You can register after accepting your offer of Admission. (Registration with Student Accessibility Services will not be identified on official records, academic transcripts, or graduation documentation.)

Resources

In preparation for enrolment, you are welcome to access either of the following resources.

  • YU START | New Student Transition Program: to access modules for navigating the enrolment process and policies, and a wide array of resources available to York students. (Remember, you must attend your enrolment appointment prior to being able to enrol into classes.)
