Markham Campus Friends & Family Welcome Event

You and your family will have the opportunity to connect with one another and with staff and Faculty from the Markham Campus on Saturday, August 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This event is exclusively for York University Markham Campus students and their friends and family members. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We invite all incoming Undergraduate Students at the Markham Campus to attend our Markham Undergraduate Academic Orientation event on Tuesday, September 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Markham Campus.

During Orientation Week (August 27) the Colleges will be hosting various events and activities for incoming students. Although Markham Campus students are not affiliated with a college at Keele Campus, you are more than welcome to purchase an orientation kit and attend their events.

Events held at Orientation Week (August/September) and Frost Week (January) will vary from year to year but generally include games, fairs, sporting events, athletic showdowns, and other social events that allow students the opportunity to meet and make new friends. There are also opportunities to learn about colleges and faculties and the various resources available to support students.  

Markham Campus will be hosting our own Orientation events with more details coming soon here.

At Markham Campus our Student & Family Welcome Event and Markham Campus Academic Orientation will be held in-person. However, throughout the summer there will be First-Year Transition Programing both held in-person and virtual.

Yes! All Markham Campus Orientation & Transition Programs are free. However, if you are interested in attending a Colleges Social Orientation, there will be a cost. All orientation and transition programs and events require you to register.

If you are a Markham Campus Student, you are encouraged to attend the orientation events at the Markham Campus.

If you are an international student, a self-identified indigenous student  or live in one of our residences (Keele, Markham or Glendon) there is programming specific for you that you are encouraged to attend. While none of these events are mandatory, we encourage you to attend because it’s an opportunity to connect with students in your community and explore services/resources that are more specific for you.

Our goal is to make sure you have all the information you need, are able to navigate our campus and have an opportunity to meet your future classmates before the first day of class.

Details of the locations for each event will be conveyed to you upon registration. If not then, the Markham Orientation team will send details via email closer to the start of the event(s). You will also receive an event primer prior to the start of O-Week with all relevant times, locations, and details necessary for attending the event. 

It is recommended you bring a water bottle, snacks, clothing and footwear appropriate to the weather conditions and the activities you plan to participate in. 

It is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. Markham Campus Orientation Week is a great way to make friends, learn about student services, and get a good sense of campus communities. It is a week filled with fun activities and the perfect way to start your time in York. 

Markham Campus Orientation Week and all Orientation Programs at York University are completely dry events.
