At Markham Campus Student Services, we believe that every student’s success is built on a strong foundation of support. Our new campus provides a wide range of student supports, resources and campus services designed to help you thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Effective January 1, 2025 the Student Services 2010 Testing Centre Reception and the 2005 Student Services Reception areas will be closed from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.  View updated hours of operations.

Metropia Student Success Centre

The Metropia Student Success Centre will give you access to student success & advising, a multipurpose wellness studio and spaces for academic success, accessibility services, mentoring and counselling. Student Life spaces will allow you to engage with student government, join student clubs and organizations.

Centre for Indigenous Student Services

Markham Campus students are welcome at CISS where Indigenous students will find a safe community space that offers academic, spiritual, cultural and physical support, including writing and learning skills programs, career counselling, workshops and mentoring. 

Office of Student Community Relations (OSCR)

OSCR offers students support for both personal and academic issues.  This can  include referrals to various services both internal and external to the University, such as the provision of temporary academic accommodations, and assistance with housing and financial supports. 

OSCR also connects Markham community members (student, faculty or staff) that have experienced or have been impacted by any form of sexual or gender-based violence (regardless of where or when it took place) with The Centre for Sexual Violence Response, Support and Education. 

OSCR assists community members in upholding the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities which outlines expectations for respectful behavior that fosters a positive environment for research, teaching, learning, and campus life.

Wellness Resources & Accessibility Services

The second floor of the Metropia Student Success Centre at Markham Campus includes accessibility and counselling supports that can act as a starting point for students seeking academic accommodations or to enhance their personal mental health or well-being.  

Students can reach out to their Counsellor directly with any questions or visit Room 2005 2nd Floor Markham Campus for information on how to schedule an in-person or virtual appointment. 

  • Student Counselling, Health and Wellbeing (SCHW):  The primary aim of SCHW is to support students in realizing and developing their personal potential and manage the demands of university life. ​Need advice or just someone to talk to? SCHW is a team of health care professionals, peer health educators, and support staff who collaborate to provide a range of health and well-being services that foster academic success, student development and an engaged community at York University.
    • Markham campus has a dedicated counsellor to provide students with guidance and support. For more information, feel free to contact Victoria Scott, Counsellor.   
  • Graduate Student Wellness: The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) offers Wellness and Counselling Services to support graduate students at all three of York campuses.  Attending a Wellness Consultation & Counselling session can act as a starting place for graduate students seeking to enhance, maintain, or address concerns related to their mental health and well-being. The service is offered by trained counsellors and can assist in addressing a variety of needs and concerns.

Markham community members (Student, Faculty or Staff) that have experienced or been impacted by any form of sexual or gender-based violence (regardless of where or when it took place) can get support, and access services and accommodations from The Centre (Keele Campus). The Centre’s mission also includes educating and training the community on sexual violence.

Multi-faith / Spiritual Reflection is a space where students, faculty, staff and University guests of differing religious beliefs can spend time in contemplation or prayer. Located on the second floor, room 2000

The Indigenous Learning Circle at the Markham Campus is a vital space for inclusive learning and community building. Rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing and being, the Learning Circle creates a respectful, shared space for participants to engage in open, meaningful dialogue. It encourages students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds to explore and understand Indigenous perspectives, histories, and knowledge systems. Our Indigenous Learning Circle aims to inspire collective learning and personal growth, foster cultural awareness and promote a culturally responsive and inclusive environment across our campus through regular gatherings, workshops, and discussions.

The JD Wellness Studio is designed to support your holistic well-being and personal growth.  

What’s offered at the Multipurpose Wellness Studio:

Athletics & Recreation

All Markham Campus students will automatically have a recreation membership that gives students access to drop-in sports and programs. The membership will also enable students to access the Pan Am gym for drop-in sports but will not be able to use their fitness centre, or any of their fitness classes.

Bookstore

The Markham Campus Bookstore is the central hub for textbooks, supplies, electronics, gifts, Markham Campus merchandise and more.

Office: Monday to Friday from 9:00AM - 4:00PM
Closed for Lunch from 12:00PM - 1:00PM

Please refer to the University’s Holidays and University Closures schedule for non-service dates. 

Please note summer office hours begin the Victoria Day weekend in May and remain in place until the start of classes in September.  During this time, our office will close at 3:00PM on Fridays.
