York U expert available to comment on Davos principles, influence on consumers

TORONTO, January 20, 2015 — The World Economic Forum has kicked off at Davos, Switzerland with leaders around the world converging to discuss on key topics including turbulent financial markets, plummeting oil prices and slowdown in world economies.

York U Professor Markus Giesler in the Schulich School of Business is available to comment on whether and how the Forum influences consumer experience, as the co-author of an in-depth study, “Creating the Responsible Consumer: Moralistic Governance Regimes and Consumer Subjectivity.” The expert is available to discuss on topics such as:

  • How does Davos approach problems such as poverty, chronic illness, debt, and inequality?
  • How do forum participants from business, politics, and science reshape the customer experience?
  • How does Davos affect the moral understandings and everyday decision-making of consumers?
  • What are the benefits and downsides of moral experience design?
  • What is the relationship between the forum's policy initiatives and the idea of "responsible consumption"?
  • What does Davos teach us about the future of governance?
