York U expert available to comment on U.S. election impact on trade in Canada, NAFTA, TPP

TORONTO, October 26, 2016 – With less than two weeks to the U.S. election, the race continues to be tight. The candidates differ on NAFTA, TPP and other international trade issues. Protectionism continues to be a key theme in the U.S. election campaign but how will this impact Canada’s economy?

Bernie Wolf, Professor Emeritus of Economics and International Business, Director of the Certificate in International Trade and Investment at York’s Schulich School of Business, is an expert in international trade, investment,  trade agreements, exchange rates and monetary policy. He is available to discuss the impact of the election on Canada including:

- What is the future of NAFTA, TPP, U.S.-Mexico relations?

- How will the results of the election potentially impact the U.S.-Canada exchange rate and foreign investment into Canada?

- What are the implications for macroeconomic policy, specifically monetary policy (interest rates) and fiscal policy?
