Statement from York University President and Vice-Chancellor Rhonda L. Lenton regarding the tragic loss of York student in Iranian plane crash
January 8, 2020 - Today, York University mourns the loss of one of our students aboard the Ukraine International Airlines flight that crashed this morning near Tehran.
On behalf of the York community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the student killed in this tragic event. We are reaching out to the individual’s family and to campus groups to offer our support during this time of sorrow. Out of respect to those affected, we will not be publicly identifying this individual until we confirm more details.
York University has services and supports in place for our community members who are impacted by this heartbreaking loss and may require assistance. The Student Counseling & Development office offers personal counseling services to all York students.
