Professor Marco Fiola to become new Principal of York University’s Glendon Campus
TORONTO, Dec 1, 2020 – York University is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Principal of Glendon Campus. President and Vice-Chancellor Rhonda L. Lenton informed the community today of the appointment of Professor Marco Fiola to a five-and-a-half-year term, commencing January 1, 2021. The appointment follows an extensive national and international search and was approved by the York University Board of Governors today.
Prof. Fiola brings dynamic academic leadership and development experience to Glendon. He joins York University after serving as Chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Ryerson University. Prof. Fiola holds a BA and an MA in Translation from l’Université de Montréal as well as a DEA in Language Sciences and a PhD in Translation Studies from l’Université Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle. He is a Certified Translator and Terminologist (Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario) and a Certified Translator (American Translators Association).
Throughout his career, Prof. Fiola has been a strong advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion, specifically through his award-winning research-action work, publications, and community work on intercultural and interlinguistic communication.
