York University take matters of copyright law and licensed usage very seriously. We are disappointed in the outcome. The University will carefully review the reasons for the decision over the coming days and determine our next appropriate steps. We believed York’s Fair Dealing Guidelines reflected a balance between the interests of creators and of users and functioned within a system that includes spending millions of dollars per year on licenses and acquisitions.
The University will have more to say after a careful review of the full decision.
