York and T2K experiment researchers closer to solving antimatter puzzle

York and T2K experiment researchers closer to solving antimatter puzzle

Why is there an abundance of matter compared to antimatter in the Universe? This question has stymied physicists for years, but researchers at York University, along with other Canadian institutions as part of the international Tokai-to-Kamioka (T2K) Collaboration, have found neutrinos may hold the answer.

Fever, cough most common symptoms of COVID-19, but don’t overlook a headache or sore throat

A comprehensive review of currently available studies on COVID-19, including clinical, epidemiological, laboratory and chest imaging data, shows that the most common symptom was fever (82%), followed by a cough (61%), then muscle aches and/or fatigue (36%), says York University Postdoctoral Fellow Nicola Bragazzi, a co-author on the paper.

Canadian cases of COVID-19 could climb to 15k by end of March, say York researchers

York University researchers project that Canada will have 15,000 cases of COVID-19 by March 31 unless there are further public health interventions. A rapid increase in public health interventions implemented now could reduce that number to 4,000, according to the research, which will be published in the journal Infectious Disease Modelling.

What happens when the Universe ends?

How does it all end? Does the Universe end the same way it started, with a bang? Media are invited to hear theoretical astrophysicist and science communicator Katie Mack discuss what modern astrophysicists believe will happen in her talk, Death of a Universe, at York University.
