National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

NSSE (pronounced “Nessie”) stands for the National Survey of Student Engagement. Responses to the survey will help  the university make improvements to student services and activities.

Thank-you to all first- and fourth-year students - your participation helps us improve the York U student experience.

Next Survey is Winter 2026!

When you share feedback, you create POSITIVE CHANGE

Improved Academic Advising

Through NSSE, students asked for better access to academic advising. In response, we updated academic advising websites and booking systems, and have included Civitas into advising sessions to reduce the number of times a student tells their story.

Supporting Mental Health and Wellness

NSSE data resulted in more consultation and outreach with students to develop the new Mental Health and Wellness strategy, with community engagement sessions currently underway. NSSE data also resulted in the development of health and wellness services and workshops on campus.
