Agent

Agent

Synonym(s): N/A

An agent is a third-party representative, either an individual or a company, who advises prospective students on York University programs (see program (academic)) and the application process. Agents also receive consent from prospective students to act as their representative with the University to resolve matters pertaining to their applicant record.

Agents are employed to support the University's recruitment in selected target markets. In order to become an authorized agent of the University (including the School of Continuing Studies), an application and vetting process is completed.

Different sets of agents are used by the School of Continuing Studies and the University's central undergraduate recruitment. Being an agent of one area does not mean they are an authorized agent for another area. The University maintains agreements with selected agents who are remunerated for enrolled students on a commission basis.
