Community involvement is student participation in activities outside of the University. This includes volunteering, community service, and involvement in humanitarian causes.

Some awards, scholarships, and bursaries (see bursary) offered at York University require community involvement as a part of their eligibility criteria.

An example of a scholarship based on community involvement is the City of Toronto, North York Community Scholarship.
