A lecturer is a faculty member with an initial, temporary appointment as a university scholar.

At the time of appointment, specific expectations regarding conditions and length of service to be fulfilled for subsequent promotion to the Assistant Professor rank are stipulated. A faculty member shall not remain in the lecturer rank for longer than three years.
