Program (Academic)
Synonym(s): Academic Program
A program is a Senate-approved set and sequence of courses and/or other components of study prescribed to fulfill the requirements of a particular credential (e.g. degree, certificate or diploma). A program is considered to be the comprehensive body of study required to graduate with a credential in a particular discipline or interdisciplinary field of study.
At York University, programs are described using program nomenclature, which includes information about the credential level, nature of the credential and discipline or subject of study. The University's academic calendar houses the catalogue of programs and associated requirements, updated annually.
