A master's program is a graduate program, generally lasting 1 to 2 years, leading to a graduate degree.
A candidate for a master’s degree shall pursue at York University, under the direction of a graduate program, an advanced course of study approved by the director of the sponsoring graduate program.
Program-level learning outcomes for a master’s program must be consistent with and build upon the master’s degree level expectations (DLE). The structure and requirements of a master’s program are intended to support the achievement of the master's DLE and program-level learning outcomes.
The minimum requirements for the master's degree are satisfied when candidates have successfully completed either:

These are minimum requirements, and individual graduate programs may have additional requirements, such as graduate milestone examinations, practicum, fieldwork, language requirements, etc.
