Common York Identification Number
Synonym(s): CYIN
The Common York Identification Number (CYIN) is a unique identifier for a person and is used for identity and access. York student numbers, employee numbers, temporary number (500 series) and the numbers of guest accounts are all CYINs.
The number range indicates the role of the person identified by their CYIN. Students who attended York University before 2000 were assigned CYINs starting with the first two digits of their starting year. This range, CYINs greater than 600,000,000, are no longer assigned.
